Winter Gem Boxwood, also known as Japanese boxwood, is an evergreen shrub with rounded leaves. It prefers moist, cool soil and slightly acidic and alkaline soil. Although it is a boxwood, it prefers shade, and its leaves will turn reddish if exposed to direct sunlight. It is a relatively slow-growing shrub and is somewhat sensitive to over-fertilization.
